“Coast of Parafew” Final

I learned a lot from taking on this long term project and I also figured out (thanks Tom for the great idea!) what to do for my senior thesis. I am going to take this story and make make it into an illustrated book and have a video of a an actress narrating it to a group of children who can interact with it and at some points during the story the video will go into the storybook and come alive and turn into animation.

Scenes 44-49

The first scene should pause longer on the close up of the banana. The second scene should start the action quicker and move slower across the scene. The transition between to the next scene was supposed to make the shape of the hand turn into the shape of the tree. I also could have a great cross dissolve because of the overlap of the narration. So I should make some blank space in the wavs to make that work. There will be music added at the end for the monkeys to dance to. I will have a lot more time this weekend to fix this up and hopefully have a decent finished product by the 5th. You’re right, I should have found the narrated voice I wanted to have recorded in the beginning because there would be too much change in timing to try to put the voice in within the week.

I decided to give each character the color I was thinking about choosing for the final production so I could get used to it and see if I like the general colors. I plan to have some type of texture with more detail in the end. I also used the tint palette so now every aspect of the scenes depict what time of day it is and how gloomy or sunny it is. I kept it simple enough so it can all be colored in easily.
I am still interested in used a Caribbean island voice and want go to a Reggae music shop “Roots” that I know of and maybe talk to somebody there and leave a few fliers. That is a goal I should accomplish this weekend.
I tried to make King Ereeko look intimidating in the scene where they hand over the banana but I think I may have made him look way too big.

Scenes 32-37

There are a couple things that I see now that I want to fix. In the first scene I should probably pull away the camera so that the bana doesn’t look like it’s sitting on the bottom of the TV screne. The second fix would be in the transition from the lower view of just their feet walking to their whole bodies walking forawrd. They seem to be walking faster when showing just their feet. Also when showing their whole bodies-I want to emphasize the pouting more by maybe throwing their heads back while taking the deep breath in. I also need to play with the peg for making the bana fall or draw it so it feels better in the last scene. Also his reaction to the bana hitting his head was too delayed. I do like the difference of havig the characters shaded grey so that they stick out more. But I was thinking maybe I should have the night scenes color cards shaded grey because now you can’t even really tell when it’s night. I am getting used to the process and feel that the scenes are looking a little better (from when I started) so I think the fixing up process should take less time and I will be more efficient without having to worry so much about the technical side.

Last Idea for Project

Im going to do the second half of my storyboard from Layout and timing.

Here are some pictures of the monkey figure that I made with sculpy for reference.

I will have everything planned out for next week but I’m not sure excactly what to show. I’m thinking I will have the script form of the second half as well as storyboards in the format we look over now in layout and timing with camera moves and dialogue written on the side. Then the total number of scenes I have will be divided into the last seven weeks and then for the eigth week I can put those in an animatic. Hopefully with getting used to the rythm, timing, and stages of layout and timing the storyboarding steps should become automatic along with the steps in layout in timing.
